What we do
Through our offices in London and New York we:
- Provide education and advisory services to donors
- Build philanthropy networks in the UK and around the world
- Work to raise the awareness and understanding of philanthropy
How we do it
Our programmes provide donors of all ages with the frameworks to address the root causes of the issues that they care most strongly about, and in which they wish to achieve the greatest possible impact.
We do this via:
- The Philanthropy Workshop (TPW), a pioneering international donor education programme in strategic philanthropy founded by the Rockefeller Foundation 13 years ago and now directed by the Institute for Philanthropy
- Next Generation Philanthropy, the first of its kind in Europe, a training programme in strategic philanthropy for young people aged 18-30 who are moving towards an increased engagement in their personal, family or business philanthropy
- The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI), a programme that provides secondary school pupils with hands-on experience of philanthropy and teaches them life skills and community awareness
- Think Philanthropy, a series of projects, talks and events based upon original research, which discuss the most pressing issues in philanthropy and provide practical next steps for all in this field
- Leadership in Philanthropy, a programme for philanthropists that focuses upon the leadership skills needed to advance social agendas, influence policy and practice, mobilise resources for the issues they are passionate about, and build strong systems of governance within their family foundations
- Strong Foundations, drawing upon the methodology of The Philanthropy Workshop, a capacity-building programme in strategic philanthropy for the staff of grant-making foundations with entrepreneurial, engaged donors
- Community Foundations Futures, a strategic philanthropy and donor advising training course for the staff of community foundations, launched with the support and involvement of the Community Foundation Network
- Private Advising, a bespoke advice service for individuals, families, private banks, law firms, accountancy firms and corporations on how to achieve maximum impact in their giving, how to involve the next generation, and how to evaluate success
