Programme Director, Arab Forum for Social Innovation: Amy Christiansen

Amy Christiansen is the Programme Director of the Arab Forum for Social Innovation (AFSI): AFSI is a new initiative which aims to increase the impact of the charitable giving of philanthropists of Arab descent in the MENA region through donor education and network building. Before that, she spent three years living in the Kingdom of Bahrain where she advised a number of Bahrain-based non-profit organisations on development and fundraising strategies. From 2001 until 2003, Amy was the Associate Manager of Major Gifts at the New York City-based Robin Hood Foundation, a pioneer in venture philanthropy that was named by Fortune magazine as one of the most innovative and influential philanthropic organisations of our time.

Prior to Amy’s work in development, she spent five years in a direct practice setting in the field of Social Work. Amy provided outpatient psychotherapy to low-income children and families in Chicago, Illinois at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital, Constance Morris Domestic Violence Shelter and Christopher House. Amy holds a Master of Social Work (summa cum laude) from Loyola University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Social Work (cum laude) from Illinois State University.
