Programmes Assistant: Jodi Chao
Jodi Chao serves as the Programmes Assistant in the U.S. office of the Institute for Philanthropy. Growing up in the Bay Area, California, Jodi never imagined leaving the sunny confines of her native state. However, the opportunity to attend college in New York City had the bright lights calling her name. While at New York University (NYU), Jodi took courses on public policy, community empowerment and international development. With a commitment to proactively helping others, Jodi interned and volunteered with various non-profits working towards everything from ending world hunger to mentoring urban youth. While studying abroad in Accra, Ghana, Jodi grew her interest in innovative solutions for social problems and her desire for a global perspective on taking action for positive change. Jodi graduated magna cum laude from NYU in May 2009 with a B.A. in Metropolitan Studies. She completed her senior honors thesis on school curriculum, trauma and public memory, receiving a grade of high honors. Jodi is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Chapter of New York.
