Our Offering: A Global Network
Regional events for continued skills-building
We direct Leadership in Philanthropy, a three-module, seven-day training course for alumni of The Philanthropy Workshop, to assist them in stepping into greater leadership roles within their issue areas. We also run a series of Advanced Alumni Modules for further learning about effective giving.
International field visits
Seeing the roots of a social problem at first-hand is often the surest way to understand it, and then devise an effective solution. To that end, we have conducted international field visits to several countries, including Brazil, Ghana, Turkey, Vietnam and South Africa.
Incubation and support of funders collaboratives
One of the most effective ways for donors to give is to pool their funds and give towards a common cause; we call groups of this type "funders collaboratives", and we assist alumni in establishing these. Our alumni have participated in funders collaboratives in the areas of everything from youth justice to renewable energy.
We also hold a series of regular retreats for alumni in different parts of the world, so that they may come together and share their experiences; we publish a quarterly newsletter with useful tips on effective giving, further reading and the latest innovative work being done by their fellow donors; and we maintain a confidential online forum so that members of The Philanthropy Workshop Alumni Network Association can keep up to date with each other, both personally and professionally.
