Youth and Philanthropy Initiative Programme Associate

Summary

We are looking for a Programme Associate to coordinate the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) in London. YPI is an international education programme that gives pupils a hands on experience of philanthropy and empowers them to make a positive difference to their communities.

This exciting position requires someone with excellent interpersonal skills, lots of energy and initiative and experience working in challenging secondary schools.
It is a varied role which involves developing relationships with a range of stakeholders (Headteachers, charity representatives, funders etc) as well as teacher training, presenting in assemblies and delivering presentation skills workshops for pupils. You will also assist the UK Director in fundraising and the development of the programme. YPI is delivered in the UK by the Institute for Philanthropy - the world’s leading organisation providing international donor education.

How YPI works
Pupils in year 9, 10 or 11 work in small teams to identify the needs of their local community and the local charity they believe is best placed to make a positive contribution. Each team visits their chosen charity and, following skills in advocacy and public speaking, present on the reasons their proposed charity is the most deserving of support. The group judged to have made the best presentation in each school is granted £3,000 to award to their charity.

We are looking for someone:

  • with teaching experience in a secondary school and good understanding of secondary education
  • who can work independently, is self motivated and has lots of initiative
  • with excellent communication and networking skills with a wide range of audiences
  • with the ability to build and develop partnerships with stakeholders in schools
  • with excellent presentation skills who can speak confidently in public
  • who works well under pressure and can prioritise effectively
  • who can enthuse and energise secondary pupils (and teachers)
  • with excellent planning and organisational skills
  • with an interest in fundraising and working in the charity sector

Office Manager

Summary

The Institute for Philanthropy seeks an experienced, confident and highly organised Office Manager.   Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Institute’s London based office and providing assistance and support to other members of staff with their administration requirements when necessary. 

You will have responsibility for general management of the Institute’s offices, you will ensure that systems and facilities are in place, monitor office supply levels, negotiate and agree costs with outside suppliers, authorise invoices, and prepare meeting rooms.  Further duties include overseeing all facilities and maintenance, liaising with the landlord, monitoring security and H&S issues, managing all HR administration and the Internship programme, providing book keeping support to the Finance Director and liaising with the IT Assistant in supporting the structural growth of the Institute.

This is a challenging and varied role, in a small but dynamic team in which you will need to be a team player with a positive friendly and professional attitude.  You will need excellent computer skills, advanced knowledge of IT software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint), and excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to liaise with organisations and individuals all over the world.  You will be highly organised and a confident and capable problem solver, though comfortable carrying out day to day administration and secretarial tasks as the core of your duties.
